The man accused of driving an ATV over an Ewing police officer outside a gas station last month has been arrested.
Desean Clark, 45, was taken into custody following an investigation that began on May 31. According to police, Ewing police received multiple calls reporting ATVs operating recklessly throughout town. At about 5:30 p.m., police noticed a man, later identified as Clark, trying to fuel an ATV at the Delta gas station on Princeton Avenue. When the officer attempted to stop him, “the subject drove over the officer.” The officer was transported to a local hospital for injuries.
Following the incident, police attempted to stop Clark but had to terminate the pursuit for safety reasons.
During a follow-up investigation, Ewing police and FBI agents were able to identify and apprehend Clark on June 10. Officers then obtained a warrant to search his home, at which time they discovered multiple stolen and defaced firearms, armor-piercing ammunition, and high-capacity magazines.
Clark is facing multiple firearms charges as well as charges of eluding police, assault on a police officer, obstructing the administration of law, and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at the Mercer County Corrections Center pending a hearing. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
