A Vietnam War veteran is trying to gather photographs of all New Jerseyans who died in that war.
Veteran Joe Lubrano, 71, started the project in April.
"The Wall of Faces is all the servicemen that were killed in Vietnam and women. There are blank spaces where their pictures are missing. Those are the pictures I'm after,” Lubrano says.
Lubrano gathered the names of the 137 New Jerseyans who appear on the Vietnam Memorial walls in Washington, D.C. and in Holmdel, but are without a picture.
“I created a website…on that website you can see the entire list of all of the servicemen that were killed in Vietnam, whose pictures we're looking for,” says Lubrano.
The veteran says that if anyone recognizes any of the names, and has a photo to share, they can send them to Lubrano digitally or email them. He will then present t hem to the New Jersey Memorial, and the Vietnam Memorial in Washington.
“I want to do what I possibly can to recognize all those that were killed in Vietnam by having their picture associated with their name on all of the walls. They need that recognition at least for their sacrifice,” Lubrano says.
