A 21-year-old Maryland man was killed early Sunday when his car struck a parked tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County, according to New Jersey State Police.

The crash happened around 3:34 a.m. on I-78 west near milepost 15.4 in Union Township.

State police said the man was driving an Audi headed west when he lost control, ran off the right side of the highway and struck the rear corner of the tractor-trailer.

The driver, identified only as a 21-year-old man from Riverdale, Maryland, was killed in the crash.
