Residents of the properties involved in the Sharpe James and Tamika Riley corruption scandal say the two got their comeuppance.

Sylvia Lewis, who lives at an Avon Avenue property involved in the shady dealings, blames her building's horrible conditions on Riley. Those conditions, according to residents, include a bad infestation of mice and rats.

"Tamika Riley and Sharpe James got what they deserve," she says. "And now we're getting screwed because of Tamika Riley."

Residents say the property has been resold multiple times and has seen little improvement since Riley's transaction about seven years ago.

Others pleased with the guilty verdicts include Dennis Mason, whose building was also sold to Riley.

"I got beat out of my house," he says. "It was worth almost $200,000 ? $250,000. I got nothing."

According to Mason, he owed the city $54,000 in back taxes. When he and his partners couldn't pay it, the building was sold to Riley for a fraction of what he owed.

The pair faces up to 20 years in federal prison on each fraud charge. Sentencing is set for June.

"You reap what you sow," says Mason.
