Police are beefing up patrols in the Long Valley section of Washington Township after a rash of vandalism incidents.
Authorities have received complaints of 22 acts of vandalism since Memorial Day in the quaint and quiet neighborhood.
Meg Marino is one of the fed-up residents. A few weeks ago, Marino awoke to find beer cans scattered all over her yard and swimming pool. Her patio furniture was also rearranged.
"The most unsettling thing of all was that it was a cool evening and my bedroom was right there and my windows were open," says Marino. "These guys were on my deck drinking beer and right underneath my bedroom window as I was asleep."
Others have reported mailboxes being knocked off and lit on fire. Victims of the culprits claim to have lost thousands of dollars in damages.
Authorities believe the vandals are likely young men who have crossed the line from partying to crime. Police say there are no patterns to the acts, however.
