(AP) - New Jersey's corruption-fighting U.S. attorney is stepping down.
Christopher Christie, who took office in January 2002, hasdecided to leave office on Dec. 1.
During his tenure, the Republican targeted corrupt appointed andelected political officials; in his resignation letter, Christieclaims his office amassed more than 130 convictions.
Many Republicans hope the 46-year-old lawyer decides to runagainst Democratic Gov. Jon S. Corzine next year.
Two weeks ago, Christie told The Star-Ledger of Newark he'sgoing to begin the process of deciding what to do with his career.
