Delays and cancellations at Newark Liberty International Airport have been constant this summer. Now, United Airlines is cutting back on the number of flights it handles at New Jersey’s largest airport beginning next month.
Working out of Terminal C, United Airlines accounts for a large majority of flights in Newark. The airline usually has about 435 flights per day in Newark. But in August, United Airlines will cut its number of daily flights in and out of Newark Liberty International Airport from a previously scheduled 410 down to about 390.
United Airlines faced major problems over July Fourth weekend. News 12 New Jersey reported the travel issues in Newark after storms, fog and haze, a shortage of air traffic controllers and more.
Officials say this reduction will hopefully lead to building a schedule in Newark that is more manageable to avoid similar issues.
