Newark Liberty International Airport saw delays and cancellations on Wednesday as people began their trips home following a long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The majority of the delays impacted those traveling into the airport, not leaving the airport.
Tuesday’s on-again off-again thunderstorms grounded several departing flights which pushed some of those issues into Wednesday. Rainfall was sporadic and at times it was extremely heavy and slow moving throughout parts of the region causing low visibility.
The airport was under a ground stop Tuesday due to the thunderstorms. This has since been lifted.
The delays and cancellations Wednesday morning are much less than what travelers had to deal with last week.
