A Union man spent Father?s Day mourning the loss of his youngest daughter, who was killed by her mother.
Lynn Giovanni was sentenced to 30 years in prison for beating 14-year-old Nicole to death with a hammer and a shovel in February 2005.
John Giovanni said the sentence is not enough. ?The pain will always be there. It's something that you never get over but you learn how to deal with it in other ways,? he said.
Giovanni is pushing for state legislation that would require a mandatory life sentence for anyone convicted of murdering a child under the age of 16.
Giovanni spent part of his Father?s Day with his other daughter. He currently works with the Union County Prosecutor's Office speaking to local students about domestic violence.
