Last fall, the Bloomberg Administration celebrated a deal that would bring new bus shelters and magazine stands to the Bronx and city. Now, two companies are reportedly headed to court over the bidding process for those street amenities.
According to a New York Times report, the city chose the Spanish firm, Cemusa, to build what?s know as street furniture. The Times reports Cemusa would then pay the city more than $1 billion to sell ad space on the bus shelters, magazine stands and public toilets.
Two companies, Clear Channel and another based in France, say the bidding process was unfair and Cemusa had a leg up over the competition. The Times reports oral arguments from the companies are expected to begin Thursday.
