About 1,400 Trenton residents who live in the city?s Island section remained banned from their homes Saturday as the flood cleanup continued.
Police say they are working overtime to get residents back in their homes as soon as possible. Many officers had their vacations canceled. The streets are deserted, with the exception of officers and city workers who are pumping tons of water from homes and businesses.
While authorities say they cannot set a return date, Mayor Doug Palmer says he hopes many houses in the Island section will be occupied by Tuesday.
