Trenton says it's prepared for possible post-Chauvin trial verdict protests
Trenton is bracing for possible demonstrations ahead of the verdict in ex-Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's trial over the death of George Floyd.
Following the death of Floyd in 2020, Trenton saw a couple days of peaceful protests followed by looting, in which windows to businesses on Broad and State streets were destroyed.
Mayor Reed Gusciora says the city is better prepared and that it is working with county and state law enforcement personnel.

Gusciora says the police department has received public unrest training for the last two weeks and that it's working with federal partners who won't hesitate to prosecute those who destroy property or breach peaceful protests.
Ultimately, he hopes that protesters in Trenton demonstrate peacefully.
