A fallen tree in Maplewood left some residents in Maplewood without power.
The tree fell on the lines on Hughes Street near Boyden Avenue and Schaffer Road.
“It was a big gust of wind and we heard a boom,” says resident Yasmine Lewis. “Came out and the tree was down.”
Officials say that the fallen tree did not knock out the power initially, but PSE&G turned the power off to allow crews to make repairs.
“PSE&G shut it off because they need to have safety first for their workers,” says Maplewood Township Committee Member Victor De Luca.
No injuries were reported, and no homes were damaged. PSE&G restored the power around 9 p.m.
Powerful storms tore across New Jersey Friday afternoon leaving thousands of people without power.
