Equestrians and horses from across the world are descending upon the Garden State for two days of horse racing and million dollar prizes.
The Breeders' Cup kicked off Friday at the Monmouth Park racetrack. This marks the first time New Jersey has played host to the event.
The race has been expanded to a two-day event for the first time as well. Jockeys and horses are competing for chances at the $23 million purse total for the 11 races.
The cup will be capped off with the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic, which features the top horses from the three years and up division.
The race continues on Saturday, regardless of weather conditions.
