'These numbers are sobering': Gov. Murphy announces 1,663 new positive cases of COVID-19

Gov. Phil Murphy has announced 1,663 new positive cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey, pushing the state cumulative total to 231,331.

Gov. Phil Murphy has announced 1,663 new positive cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey, pushing the state cumulative total to 231,331.
In a post on Twitter, the governor says, “These numbers are sobering. We are still in the midst of a pandemic and need everyone to take this seriously. Wear a mask. Social distance. Wash your hands.”
The governor also announced 14 new confirmed COVID-19 deaths, for a total of 14,517 lives lost. All of the 14 deaths occurred within the past nine days.
Hospitalizations are also on the rise, with 957 COVID-19 patients in all. There are 182 COVID patients in the intensive care unit and 68 are on ventilators.
