New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy spoke with News 12 New Jersey for the first time since she announced she is running for the United States Senate.
Murphy spoke with News 12’s Eric Landskroner about why she decided to run.
"I've also been listening to my children and I would say I fear that the next generation is losing faith in government in Washington, D.C. and there is a real need for good people to lean in,” Murphy said.
Murphy will go up against Democratic Rep. Andy Kim for Sen. Bob Menendez’s seat.
Kim and Murphy made their announcements amid Menendez’s bribery indictment. It was unclear if Menendez would seek reelection.
