Habitat for Humanity is partnering with two dozen local breweries, bars and distilleries to raise money to build an affordable house on the East End.

The fundraiser known as "The House That Beer Built" has two goals - to help boost business at breweries and bars while also putting a roof over the head of a family in need.

"We are able to offer a hand up to local families instead of, you know, them having to pay rent or live in substandard housing," said Dawn Marie Dioguardo, of Habitat for Humanity of Long Island. "So it's a great opportunity for the community to help out too, to help a family get into an affordable home."

Habitat for Humanity and participating businesses are selling craft brew and spirit cards. The $50 cards get individuals one free beer or drink from each participating business for all of 2023.

All of the money raised will go toward building an affordable home for a Long Island family this summer.

The house will be built, in part, by employees of participating breweries and bars, including The Tap Room.

"We're going to bring our staff and they're going to come and swing some hammers and bring some nails and help build a house," said James Bonnano, of The Tap Room.

The craft beer cards will be sold through March.
