The TGI Fridays in the Town of Woodbury is now permanently closed as part of several changes within the company, the company announced on Wednesday. 

News 12 went to the restaurant Wednesday morning and found a sign saying, “We apologize for the inconvenience, but this location has permanently closed.” 

A TGI Fridays representative says the location is one of 36 underperforming franchise locations across the U.S. that are now closed. 

"Our top priority has always been delivering a superior experience for each and every TGI Fridays guest, and we've identified opportunities to optimize and streamline our operations to ensure we are best positioned to meet – and exceed – on that brand promise," said Ray Risley, U.S. president and chief operating officer at TGI Fridays. "By strengthening our franchise model and closing underperforming stores, we are creating an unprecedented opportunity for Fridays to drive forward its vision for the future."

An employee reached out to News 12 saying corporate representatives were at the Woodbury Centre location on Tuesday and told about 30 staff members that the restaurant was shutting down. 

The company says it is offering transfer opportunities to 1,000 impacted employees, which is roughly 80% of those employed at the now-closed locations. 

The sign on the door in Woodbury says to, “see one of our other locations nearby in Newburgh, Middletown and West Nyack.” 

The company also announced the sale of eight previously corporate-owned restaurants in the northeast to former CEO Ray Blanchett during an “era of transformation.”
