Today's high temperature reached 28 degrees. The afternoon highs around the state were three to nine degrees warmer than this time yesterday. A sign of moderation with the air slowly retreating to New England.
Temperatures will continue to warm, yet stay below average until Sunday. Today marked four consecutive days with temperatures at or lower than 28 degrees. The last time we had four days of cold like this was 18 years ago – Feb. 3 – Feb. 7, 2007.
The cold stretch continues for the remainder of the week, but as mentioned above, it is slowly getting milder. Temperatures by Sunday should climb to near 40 degrees, which would be normal for this time of year. Temperatures should stay in the 40s until Tuesday and then fade to the low 30s with another reinforced shot of cold Canadian air returning by the middle and end of next week.
Right now, there aren't any big storms to track. It is possible that an elongated weather system that stretches from eastern Canada to the Ohio Valley might try and move some unorganized snow showers through northern areas of New Jersey by late next week. Stay tuned.
