A New Jersey man is suing four teens for desecrating more than 500 gravestones in a New Brunswick cemetery earlier this month.
Mark Elfant, who has generations of family members buried at the vandalized Jewish cemetery Poile Zedek, is suing the teens and their parents for millions.
?I want accountability for the people who desecrated this place,? said Elfant. ?I want responsibility from those people who did this.?
Elfant?s attorney, Gerald Gordon, who also has family buried in the cemetery, said juvenile penalties are often too light and that a lawsuit will guarantee that justice is served.
Elfant said that any money won in the lawsuit will go toward repairing the damage, installing a security system and caring for the cemetery for generations to come.
