Survey: 51% of Americans believe Christmas will be spent away from family this year

Many New Jerseyans are already thinking about how the coronavirus may affect their winter holiday plans. A survey put the question to 3,000 people, and 51% think Christmas will be spent away from extended family this year.

Many New Jerseyans are already thinking about how the coronavirus may affect their winter holiday plans. A survey put the question to 3,000 people, and 51% think Christmas will be spent away from extended family this year.

If the pandemic continues through the year, 28% say they feel safer having a virtual Christmas celebration.
Christmas is the event 75% of Americans say would be the hardest to spend away from family. The people surveyed say if all flights were canceled, they'd be willing to drive 11 hours to see family.
Nearly half say if another lockdown order is imposed around the holidays, it won't stop them from breaking the rules and going to see family anyway.
