Summer scorcher to smother Long Island with temps feeling close to 100

If you have to work outside in the heat today, make sure you're taking care of yourself.
A heat advisory is in effect for Long Island through Friday at 8 p.m.
News 12 Storm Watch Team meteorologists say the feel-like temps are reaching 95 to 100 degrees.
Health officials say heat-related illnesses are preventable and urge all to watch out for symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
They include headaches, heavy sweating, cold, moist skin, chills, dizziness or fainting among others.
The CDC says that more than 600 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat every year.
