Students at one Monmouth County school who are mourning the death of one of a friend say their school is now adding to their grief.
Students at Raritan High School in Hazlet tell News 12 New Jersey school officials have told them to remove T-shirts honoring a friend who recently passed away.
Students say the shirts were created in memory of 17-year-old Matthew Adams, of Union Beach, who was killed by a car while crossing Route 36 earlier this month.
Superintendent of Schools Bernard Bragen insists the school never told students that they couldn't wear the tees.
Frank Eichlr, a parent of a Raritan H.S. student, contradicts Bragen's claim and says a school counselor called him Friday morning, instructing him to bring in a new shirt for his daughter.
The superintendent says students wearing the shirts were only talked to by counselors to make sure they weren't experiencing emotional distress.
