(01/11/06) TRENTON ? Volunteers from a Lawrenceville school fanned out through Mercer County Wednesday to help others in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.
The students from Lawrenceville School are volunteering in the community to practice King?s message of helping others. About 50 participants pitched in by scrubbing, painting and working with children at the Trenton Catholic Youth Organization. Hundreds of others helped out at food banks, nursing homes and sports clinics.
Although the students enjoy performing their services, the activities weren?t entirely voluntary. Their school required them to take part in the activities for credit. No matter what the motivation, residents in Trenton say it is touching to see young people helping out.
