Everyone at Central School in Wall Township celebrated their month of collecting cereal box donations for local charities by turning it into a giant game of dominos.

“It represents one of our mindsets, that is, ‘Live to give.’ So some people don’t have this experience and sometimes they can’t even go to school,” said fifth grade student Riley Kilmnik.

“There’s so much value in giving back to the community, helping those in need and that’s something we want to instill in our students, said Principal Efstratios Monafis. “I am so proud. They prove every day how great they are, how much they’re learning.”

A second-grade student began the toppling of the 1,000 cereal boxes on the second floor of the school, where the line of Lucky Charms, Frosted Flakes, Cheerios and other boxes stood at attention, waiting for the energy of the box before it to send it on its way.

“I am like super happy we all came together as a school, collected the cereal boxes, set them all up and the kids will be happy to watch and joy,” said Deandrea Lafrance, a mother and volunteer with the Central Association of Parents and Educators.

“It was really cool to see how the domino effect went through around the school,” said fifth grade student Zarra Lafrance.

It won’t take nearly the amount of time for the volunteers to collect the now-knocked-down 1,000 cereal boxes. They will be distributed to pantries located in Manasquan, Bradley Beach, and West Belmar all in time for the holidays.
