Paterson students each given Chromebooks to help with remote learning
A digital divide among Paterson students has been closed as Chromebooks were distributed to each student to assist with remote learning.

Shipment delays and other last-minute issues delayed the distribution. But donations, perseverance and CARES Act funding made the giveaway possible.
“Many of us have been looking for a silver lining, positive things that emerged during a difficult time,” says Paterson School Superintendent Eileen Shafer. “Today we are here to celebrate a very great silver lining.”

“This was our opportunity to finally give our kids what they deserve. A chance to be successful, to learn new material, and have their academic progress not be at a standstill,” says Deputy Superintendent Susana Peron.
When schools closed in March because of the pandemic, there were only 7,000 Chromebooks to go around for 25,000 students.
Paterson students returns to school on Tuesday virtually.
