Officials warn of new possible case of measles exposure in New Jersey

Health officials in New Jersey are warning about possible measles exposure after a New York City resident may have exposed people in Middlesex and Ocean counties.

Health officials in New Jersey are warning about possible measles exposure after a New York City resident may have exposed people in Middlesex and Ocean counties.
The New Jersey Department of Health is warning residents about the confirmed measles case.
The resident from New York City was in New Jersey on April 22 and 23.
Anyone who visited the following locations may have been exposed:
Sky Zone, 600 Hadley Rd, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
April 22 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
River 978 Banquet Hall, 978 River Ave, Lakewood, NJ 08701
April 23 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Anyone who suspects exposure is urged by the health department to call a doctor before going to a medical office or emergency department.
Special arrangements can be made for evaluation while also protecting other patients and medical staff from possible infection.
Symptoms of the measles include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. It can cause serious complications such as pneumonia and the swelling of the brain. Symptoms of this particular case could show up as late as May 14.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that cases of the measles in the United States have reached their highest peak in 25 years – with over 667 cases reported this year.
