A 24-year-old mother is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of her own toddler son.
Authorities in Cumberland County say they received a 911 call from mother Nakira M. Griner Friday around 6:30 p.m. saying her 23-month old son Daniel had been abducted.
After nearly nine hours of searching by law enforcement, that included State Police bloodhounds, Daniel was found dead in his mother's backyard.
Prosecutors say they found the boy’s remains Saturday at about 3 a.m.
Police have released few details on what exactly happened, but say they don't anticipate charging anyone else in Daniel's death.
Griner was arrested early Saturday morning. In addition to murder charges, she faces charges of desecration of human remains and tampering with evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.
She remains in the Cumberland County Jail pending a detention hearing. Under state law, that must happen within 24-48 hours.
