SNOWSTORM: The northernmost parts of New Jersey have a chance to see above 6 inches of snow whereas the majority of northern New Jersey can expect between 3-6. Middlesex , Monmouth, Mercer, and Ocean are looking more likely to have lesser amounts and south of Ocean County is looking at under an inch. If there is more mixing, the snow totals will be on the lower side.
It looks like there will be a few hours of heavy snow that transitions into freezing rain, mix, sleet, and rain for the central and southern portions of the state. This means we will have ice on top of snow and then rain on top of that, which will lead to a dangerous and sloppy travel situation.
Sunday will be a decent day for cleaning up after this. Expect to need to shovel, clear cars and driveways, and please don't be the person who drives with snow on their car! It's dangerous and takes only a few minutes to clear off and prevent accidents.
The winter weather advisory continues until 11 a.m. Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: There are several more opportunities for winter weather in the upcoming week. All of these will be impacted by this storm-- so please keep an eye on the ever-evolving forecast as each one impacts the next one.
Highs for the next week are in the 30s and low 40s. This is much closer to what we expect to see in February. Sunday is in the lower 40s, Monday through Wednesday looks to be in the middle to high 30s, and we finish out the week in the lower 40s. Low temperatures will mainly be in the twenties and lower 30s. Nights and mornings will be cold.
