TUESDAY: The warm and dry pattern continues into Tuesday with another chance at 80 degrees expected. The humidity will remain very low, and a breeze of 20 to 25 mph will bring an elevated risk for brush fires. Any fires that do start will be harder to extinguish.
ALONG CAME POLLEN: The very dry air will also keep tree pollen very high, especially maple pollen. The very high pollen will remain through the end of the workweek, as the next true rain chance does not arrive until Thursday night.
UV INDEX VERY HIGH: The UV index will be an 8, or "very high" for the first time this year on Tuesday, as the sun angle continues to rise. The intensity of the sun is the same as earlier in August, so you can burn within just a half-hour of direct exposure.
REST OF THE WEEK: A cold front stops the heat from expanding on Wednesday, with highs back down to the 70s on Wednesday and just 60s on Thursday with more clouds, too. There is a very slight chance for a pop-up shower around midnight Wednesday as the front rolls through, otherwise it is rain free until late Thursday night. Rain showers are likely to start Friday and finish the day, too. There is even an opportunity for strong-to-severe storms later Friday evening, stay tuned and follow Allan along, @AWxNYC for hyperlocal updates all week.
