STORM WATCH: Most of New Jersey under severe thunderstorm watch

The heat index with high humidity will make it feel close to 100.

Most of the state is under a severe thunderstorm watch until around 10 p.m. Monday.
Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Dave Curren says there is a good chance for scattered thunderstorms through the evening. But he says that it will not be a statewide soaking.
WHAT’S NEXT: Scattered thunderstorms with drenching rains, small hail and lots of lightning. New Jersey residents should avoid being outside when possible. Warm temperatures and high humidity.
OVERNIGHT: Storms clear out. Overnight temperature in the low- to mid-70s.
INDEPENDENCE DAY: Temperature and humidity won’t be as oppressive as Monday. Daytime highs in the upper-80s. Scattered thunderstorms are possible. Weather should stabilize by Tuesday night just in time for fireworks, but scattered storms are still possible. Overnight lows around 74 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Sunny with some afternoon clouds. Daytime highs in the low-90s. High humidity. Overnight lows around 74.
THURSDAY: Mix of sun and clouds. Daytime highs in the low-90s. Overnight lows around 75.
COMING UP: Chance for unsettled weather Friday through Saturday. Daytime highs in the upper-80s. Overnight lows in the low-70s.
