STORM TEAM UPDATE: An incoming weather system could create a wintry mix followed by icy conditions. This could pose hazards on the roadways for Thursday morning. We are still gathering information on this system, stay with News 12 and we'll post new updates as they become available.
Mild temperatures are expected this afternoon after a damp and icy morning. Some parts of New Jersey are waking up to about 1.5 inches of snow that left a light accumulation in parts of the state.
There will be icy spots where temperatures are below freezing, especially on untreated surfaces. This will melt as temperatures warm this morning. Conditions are partly sunny today with highs near 50 degrees.
The temperatures are on a bit of a roller coaster this week with highs and lows jumping above and below freezing in the next few days.
There will be more wintry precipitation later this week. Clouds build on Wednesday with a colder afternoon as highs push into the lower to mid 30s.
There will be snow changing to rain on Thursday with icy spots developing as a result. This can be a very hazardous day if the weather conditions time according to the temperature changes during the day. Since it starts as snow, it would be early in the morning then changing to rain by midday.
This same situation is likely to repeat on the weekend for Saturday overnight into Sunday. We catch a break on Friday.
