There is a FLOOD WATCH in effect for New Jersey today as thunderstorms this evening can produce flooding.
FORECAST:
Although yesterday's storms were a bust in terms of intensity and flooding, we lucked out without encountering severe weather. However, the same humidity and greater heat is expected today. There should be fewer clouds, which would drive up the chances for storms today. This is what is different between yesterday and today. Highs reach near 95 degrees with feels-like temperatures near 100. A Heat Advisory is in effect as a result.
Thunderstorms are most likely between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., when flooding can take place in the worst of the downpours. Lots of moisture is present in the atmosphere, which is the indicator for flooding. A few storms can be severe with damaging winds.
The storms taper overnight to another humid and hot day tomorrow. Storms are expected again in the evening.
A front passes overnight into Thursday, with unsettled weather that day. Periods of showers are likely to persist all day with temperatures that are much cooler.
Friday and Saturday don't look to be as bad, but still look cloudy with few sprinkles/showers.
