Spending a day at the pool is one way to get some relief from the heat.

Swimming pools across the state had quite a crowd on Monday. News 12 visited the South Plainfield Community Pool, where guests have the option to cool off in multiple splash zones and pools.

"My son was supposed to have a baseball game today. Thankfully, it got canceled," said Denise Toca, who instead took her family to the local pool to get a break from the heat.

"Ever since 12 p.m., there has been a line of people outside. They have been coming in here non-stop," says pool attendant Rakayah Grove.

Those out in the heat shared some other things they're doing to stay cool.

"Get out here and enjoy the weather and wear a hat, " said Joann "Lady Pearl" Esaw. "It is so hot, but I'm ready!"

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s for the next few days across New Jersey.
