According to the Essex County prosecutor's office, three pedestrians have been injured, including one child, after a stolen car being chased by police crashed and caused a major accident.
Officials say an unmarked police car was chasing a stolen vehicle earlier today. Witnesses in the area say the stolen car sped down Orange Street onto Roseville Avenue, hitting a mother and her child, as well as another man.
According to the prosecutor's office, the chase began in East Orange and ended in Newark.
Police say the driver of the stolen car then lost control, hitting another car and causing a collision involving five other cars.
Officials say it isn't immediately clear whether the pedestrians were hit by the police car or the stolen car.
