New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney (D-West Deptford Township) sat down with News 12 New Jersey?s Luke Margolis ahead of this weekend?s New Jersey Power and Politics.
Sweeney, who is the counterpoint to Republican Gov. Chris Christie, says that when it came to taxes, they both wanted to get a deal done to cut them, despite their differences.
"No one wanted, and no one worked harder than I did with him on this," said Sweeney.
However, a deal was not to be and now the governor is out campaigning in an apparent ploy to shame the Democrats into cutting taxes, Sweeney said.
"Listen, it's like the Jerry Springer show, you know... I think everyone believes property taxes are too high in this state," he said.
The rest of the interview will air this weekend on News 12 News Jersey on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.
