New Jersey State Police have identified the driver of a tanker truck who died in a crash early Tuesday on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The driver was identified at 60-year-old Anthony Jackson of Salem County.
Police say that Jackson was driving the tanker truck on the southbound lanes in Milltown around 4 a.m. when the tanker and a Jeep collided. The driver of the jeep was not seriously injured.
The crash caused the tanker to overturn. Police say that the truck was carrying sulfuric acid, but they say that the tanker did not leak.
A portion of the highway was closed for at least 12 hours after the crash, causing heavy traffic buildup for the evening commute.
