A Connecticut State Police cruiser was hit during a routine vehicle stop in Middlebury Friday.
It happened at 11:18 p.m. on I-84 east near Exit 17. State police say the cruiser and Hyundai Sonata GLS/LX were both parked on the ride shoulder of the highway.
The cruiser's emergency lights were on, according to authorities.
A Toyota RAV4 collided with the front driver's side of the cruiser and rear ended the back of the Hyundai. The crash caused the Toyota to flip on to its roof.
The driver of the Toyota, Roberto Ayala-Salazar, and the driver of the Hyundai sustained minor injuries and were transported to Waterbury Hospital.
The state trooper also had minor injuries and was taken to Danbury Hospital.
State police say Ayala-Salazar was found to have caused the accident because he failed to maintain proper lane.
They say enforcement action is pending and the crash is under investigation.
