Stamford residents joined Mayor Caroline Simmons and Police Chief Timothy Shaw at police headquarters to celebrate the promotion of veteran police Capt. Richard Conklin as assistant chief.
Conklin has served the community as part of the city's police department for over 40 years.
"We've accomplished so much, but there'll be many campaigns and challenges ahead for us. The one thing I'd say is, there's no one I'd rather face these challenges with than the men and women of the Stamford Police Department," said Conklin.
During his speech, Conklin says that it is because of the round-the-clock work of everyone in the department that the community can feel so safe.
