A special run took place this morning in Wall Township.
The 41st annual Law Enforcement Special Olympics New Jersey Torch Run leads up to the weekend’s games.
Anthony Yannazzone, of Belmar, took the torch. “I got three gold medals, so I have two gold medals and a bronze medal for Special Olympics swimming," he said.
Yannazzone’s brother James is a patrolman with Wall Township police. James, along with other police officers, came up with the idea of featuring Anthony to help promote the games and the torch run itself — an honor that Anthony has certainly earned.
The torch will eventually make its way to the games for the opening ceremonies tonight in Mercer County.
