Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes gave a concert to kick off the summer in Long Branch Friday.
The band performed a rooftop show at the Windmill Hot Dog restaurant to benefit the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The food bank teamed up with the Windmill in the "10,000 hot dogs" fundraising campaign.
Southside Johnny is a longtime Jersey Shore resident and is helping in the food bank's effort to feed the hungry.
"I was just talking to a woman with the food bank and she said that after Sandy, they got hit hard with a lot of people who lost their homes and maxed out their credit cards and they needed food," he says. "So that's what it's all about."
The food bank is looking to raise at least $50,000 this summer to help provide food for families.
