Southside Johnny drive-in show helps benefit Count Basie Center for the Arts
A drive-in concert in Oceanport’s Monmouth Park drew many music fans Saturday, all for the benefit of the Count Basie Center for the Arts.
The center had to cancel 75 shows so far and is losing more than $1 million each month.
Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes are headlining the event while patrons remain inside their vehicles for the sold-out show.
Adam Philipson, the CEO and president of the , says the event will “keep the doors open.”
Some of the proceeds from the show are also going to the state's pandemic relief fund.
Local health care workers were invited to take in the show for free as a thanks for their hard work.
Three more drive-in shows are planned for this month at Monmouth Park.
