A disorderly passenger died after climbing onto a Metro-North train in Southport on Thursday afternoon.
The operator of Metro-North train requested police and medical assistance at the Southport railroad station for a disorderly passenger, who was later identified as 33-year-old Nnaemeka S. Ezeife, of New Haven.
Officials say an initial investigation, including witness statements, found that a confrontation occurred inside the train before Ezeife climbed between the second and third cars and onto the roof, where he came into contact with an electrified overhead catenary wire.
Responding MTA police officers and members of the Fairfield Fire Department and EMS determined that Ezeife had died at the scene.
Passengers were evacuated from the train and directed to use alternate transportation to reach their destinations.
Officials said no passengers or crew members were injured.
