A law enforcement source confirms to News 12 New Jersey the unnamed ?cooperating witness? that helped bust the massive corruption scam is the son of one of the rabbis involved.
The person called ?CW? in the criminal complaint is real estate developer Solomon Dwek whose father, Rabbi Isaac Dwek, runs a synagogue in Deal, the source says. Federal authorities outlined Thursday how CW went from being involved in money laundering to public corruption.
"At some point, the cooperator is introduced to people who have connections - sort of on both sides of the aisle,? Acting U.S. Attorney Ralph Marra Jr. says. ?He developed those connections and followed those connections."
Authorities say they are very confident in the evidence CW developed because they have hundreds of hours of recordings of meetings where deals were made and money was paid.
