"The Sopranos" creator David Chase took the stand Tuesday in a lawsuit brought against him by a judge who claims Chase cheated him out of money from the series.
Robert Baer says he supplied ideas for the show years ago and never got credit. At issue is whether the services Robert Baer provided during Chase's development of "The Sopranos" pilot deserve compensation, and if so, their value. Baer wants around $150,000 in consulting fees from Chase. While on the stand, Chase gave his version of his dealings with Baer. Chase testified he had always been interested in the mob since watching "The Untouchables" television series as a child.
Baer testified earlier that he declined Chase's offer of payment several times, but said Chase agreed to "take care of him" if the show was a hit.The case is expected to go to the jury Wednesday.
