A Union County man has pleaded not guilty to fatally stabbing his mother and grandfather in the home they all shared.
James Brown faces two counts of first-degree murder and three weapons charges stemming from the deaths of 51-year-old Roth Brown and her 79-year-old father, Thomas Brown.
Bail was held Friday at $2 million for the 27-year-old Brown.
Springfield Township police found the bodies Monday after they went to the family's Meckes Street home to do a welfare check.
Prosecutors say the investigation quickly resulted in James Brown being identified as a suspect. He was captured Tuesday morning when two Mountainside Police Department officers, acting on a tip, saw him walking along Route 22 near the border of Mountainside and Springfield.
