Leaders from the Somerset County Education Association are calling on
Gov. Phil Murphy to prioritize access to COVID-19 vaccines for public school
employees.
In a letter to the governor,
leaders said, “The most effective way to ensure the safety and success of each
district's reopening plan is to offer vaccines to educators immediately."
They went on to say,
"The sooner we allow educators to become vaccinated, the sooner school
districts can reopen more facets of our education system, including in-person
learning, sports, graduations, arts programs, and other essential
extracurricular activities."
The association represents over 7,000 public school employees in the
county.
