Small town, big production: Netflix’s 'Big Mistakes' films in Metuchen

The Netflix series “Big Mistakes” is making another stop in New Jersey, and this time, Metuchen is getting a starring role.
Season two of the crime-comedy series, created by Dan Levy, filmed scenes in multiple locations throughout the borough Thursday, according to Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch. The production filmed in and around Peterson Park and Yestercades, a retro arcade that was transformed into “Caputo’s Yarn & Crafts” for the show.
According to Netflix, “Big Mistakes” follows two siblings who are blackmailed into working for dangerous people and become “the most disorganized duo in organized crime.”
Metuchen is one of several New Jersey towns that have earned a Film Ready designation through the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission. Busch said the designation positions the borough to attract film and television productions.
“We want Metuchen to be well-positioned to be part of that growth, both for the economic opportunities it can bring and for the chance to showcase our borough to audiences beyond New Jersey,” the mayor said.
“Big Mistakes” has filmed scenes in towns across New Jersey, including Hackettstown, Morristown, Millburn and Edison, among others.
