Six Flags Great Adventure prepares for opening day with upgrades, new attractions
The countdown to coaster season is underway in New Jersey as Six Flags Great Adventure prepares to reopen later this month with a series of upgrades and new attractions.
The park is set to reopen to the public on March 28, with a season passholder preview night scheduled for March 27 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
With opening day approaching, crews are working on final preparations across the park, including both visible construction and behind-the-scenes improvements.
“As we kind of move into the season, there’s a lot of different celebrations, a lot of different things occurring that required us to upgrade different things throughout the park,” said Ryan Eldredge, public relations manager.
Among the updates is a newly installed track on a section of the wooden coaster El Toro, which should provide a smoother ride experience. Park officials also said Wi-Fi service has been improved, dining areas have been refreshed with new menu items and a new “Best of the West: Smokehouse” has been added. Upgrades are also underway at the Main Street Pub, along with a new Main Street stage for live entertainment.
Additional work includes an expansion of the Boardwalk area near the Superman ride, aimed at creating a Jersey Shore-style atmosphere. That project is expected to be completed around Memorial Day.
The park will also launch a Safari Spring Break celebration from March 28 through April 12, featuring animal encounters, entertainment and interactive experiences.
Looking ahead, construction is also underway on a new roller coaster, currently just referred to as the “Purple Monster,” which park officials say will be a “record-breaking” ride expected to open in 2027. The project is part of what the company describes as a multi-year investment plan.
