The Jersey Shore is bracing itself for the anticipated storms connected to Hanna.
"We've lost beach, but somehow the shape of our beach and the way it was built up with the berm is holding up very well compared to some of the other beaches," says Bradley Beach Mayor Julie Schreck.
The mayor doesn't anticipate erosion or flooding to be a major problem, saying the dunes are in good shape and should hold as a barrier. Scheck acknowledges the power of ocean storms, however.
"We fight it with jetties, we fight it with replenishment, but I think the ocean is always going to prevail," she says.
Bradley Beach has one lifeguard stand still open. Swimmers are asked to stay near it as dangerous rip currents dominate the turf.
